Immortal Beloved
Immortal Beloved by Cate Tiernan
Nastasya, known as “Nasty” to her friends, is greatly disturbed when one of her close friends nearly kills a cab driver on one of their nights out partying. She’s spent the last four hundred years being a party girl and not caring about anyone. Now she’s on the run from her friends and trying to find a safe place. She finds a “safe house” for immortals and begins to actually care about people.
At this safe house is Reyn, who looks like a Viking god, and who she is sort of attracted to but her past won’t let her.
Parts of the book seemed to ramble and small things that Nastasya was doing to put her life back on track seemed reasonable, such as getting a job at the local drugstore, but for some reason I couldn’t become totally invested in her story. The plot kept me reading as did large chunks of time to read since I was home sick, but I kept waiting for more.
This is the first part of a trilogy but the book wrapped up so well that I don’t feel like I need to read the second book. It will be interesting to see how it does amongst teens.
