The Emperor’s Children
The Emperor’s Children by Claire Messud
This is one of those books that I’ll recommend not even bothering to try and get through. After a week of trying to read this book and getting just over 100 pages into it, I didn’t give a crap about any of the characters and what they were doing. I didn’t even like one of the characters, they were so shallow and seemed to be written in such a way that there was nothing to even give you a reason to care about them. I had to give up and start something else, my time is too precious and there are too many wonderful books to read to waste my time on a book that I’m definitely not enjoying.
How this book was one of the top 10 best books for 2006 on the New York Times list, I haven’t a clue.
